A university nobody could find

A university nobody could find

This project ran in 2023.

A well-regarded institution with real programs behind it was getting about 3,000 visitors a month. The reputation existed. The search presence did not.

Where it started

They ranked for about 1,500 keywords, with very little of it in the positions that get clicked and almost nothing in SERP features. For an institution competing for students who start their search on Google, that is a serious gap.

What I did

An SEO audit first, to find and fix what was holding the site back technically. Then the part that actually moved it: building out a content team and pointing it at what prospective students were searching for, rather than at what the institution wanted to say about itself. The keyword strategy underneath it was built to establish authority on the subjects they teach, not just on their own name.

What happened

Monthly active users went from about 3,000 to more than 11,000. Keywords went from about 1,500 to more than 11,000. The site now appears in more than 1,300 SERP features and holds more than 215 keywords in the top three results.
